ಸಂಗೀತದಿಂದ ಪರಮಾಣು ಸ್ಫೋಟ, ವಿಶ್ವ ವಿನಾಶ ! ಇದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇ?

“New Scientist” ನಲ್ಲಿ ಜೂನ್ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾದ ವರದಿ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಅನೇಕರು ಇಂಟರ್ನೆಟ್‍ನಿಂದ ತರಹೇವಾರು ಸಾಫ್ಟ್ ವೇರ್ ಆಮದು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾದ ’End User License Agreement”( EULA) ಅನ್ನುವ "ಫೈನ್ ಪ್ರಿಂಟ್" ಒಕ್ಕಣೆ ಓದುವದಿಲ್ಲ ಅನ್ನುವುದು ಸಾಬೀತಾಗಿದೆ.

ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲನೇಕರು ಐ ಪಾಡ್ ( iPod) ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಲು iTunes ಅನ್ನೋ ಸಾಫ್ಟ್‍ವೇರ್ ಡೌನ್‍ಲೋಡ್ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿರಬಹುದು. ಅದರ ಲೇಟೆಸ್ಟ್ ವರ್ಷನ್‍ನ EULA ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಳಕಂಡ ಒಕ್ಕಣೆ ಇದೆ ಅಂತ ಎಷ್ಟು ಜನ ಗಮನಿಸಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ? {Clause 8 page 4 }
“Licensee also agrees that Licensee will not use the Apple Software for any purposes prohibited by United States law, including, without limitation, the development, design, manufacture, or production of nuclear missiles or chemical or biological weapons.”

iTune ನ ಹಳೆಯ ವರ್ಷನ್ EULA ಒಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ( Clause 10 Page2)
“The Apple software is not intended for use in the operation of nuclear facilities, aircraft navigation or communication systems, life support machines, or other equipment in which the failure of the Apple software could lead to death, personal injury, or severe physical or environmental damage.”

iTunes ಸಾಫ್ಟ್‍ವೇರ್‍ನಿಂದ ಪರಮಾಣು ಬಾಂಬ್ ತಯಾರಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಸೃಜನಶೀಲ ಉಗ್ರವಾದಿಗಳೆಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೋ ನಿಮಗೇನಾದರೂ ಗೊತ್ತೆ? ಇಂತಹ ವಿಚಿತ್ರವಾದ ಸಂಬಂಧವಿಲ್ಲದ ಷರತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಬರೆದ ಅಮೇರಿಕನ್ ಲಾಯರ್‍ಗಳ ಬುಧ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಗಳಬೇಕೋ ಅಥವಾ ತೆಗಳಬೇಕೋ?

ಇಂತಹದೇ ಷರತ್ತುಗಳು McAfee Antivirus ಮತ್ತು Desktop Weather Reader ಗಳ
ನಲ್ಲೂ ಕಾಣಬಹುದು.

ಅನೇಕರು EULA ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಓದುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಮಾಣಿಸಲು PC Pitstop ಸಾಫ್ಟ್‍ವೇರ್ ಕಂಪನಿಯೊಂದು ತನ್ನ EULAದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊನೆಯ ಷರತ್ತಾಗಿ EULA ಪೂರ್ತಿ ಓದಿ ಕಂಪನಿಗೆ ಈ ಮೈಲ್ ಕಳಿಸಿದವರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸಾವಿರ ಡಾಲರ್ ಬಹುಮಾನ ಘೋಷಣೆ ಮಾಡಿತ್ತಂತೆ. ನಾಲ್ಕು ತಿಂಗಳ ನಂತರ ೩೦೦೦ ಡೌನ್‍ಲೋಡ್ ಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಡೌಗ್ ಹೆಕ್‍ಮನ್ ಅನ್ನುವವನು ಆ ಬಹುಮಾನ ಗೆದ್ದನಂತೆ.

ಇನ್ನುಮೇಲಾದರೂ EULA ಕ್ಲಿಕ್ಕಿಸುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಓದಿನೋಡಿ. ಯಾರಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತು? ಏನು ಅದೃಷ್ಟ ಕಾದಿದೆಯೋ.
